Current Membership

Academics from twelve Australian Universities have committed to developing the network. These foundation members represent the traditions, interests and strengths of Sandstone, Technological and New Generation Universities.

Between them, the founding members of the network represent a range of contemporary, performing, and mediated arts (jazz, classical and contemporary music, dance, painting, photography, writing, film and video, installations, eco-arts, new materials). Elements of Indigenous culture and heritage are reflected through some of this work.

A number of collaborators and projects have an international profile, including Oron Catts (the Tissue Culture and Arts project), Chris Rizos's and Steve Scheding's respective Synapse projects and Max Pam's photomedia investigations of East-West culture and communication.

In addition to practising artist working in the tertiary sector, the network includes arts and cultural theorists with a specialism in Modernism, Indigenous art painting, new media, interactive multi-media and non-linear narratives, television and cinema.

The network includes Cultural and Media Studies theorists, as well as Cultural Policy specialists and a leader in learning organisations and web-based communication. The Network welcomes early-career researchers.
